Happy Halloweeeeeennnnn

Chudleighs Apple Farm, Ontario.

Mommy trying to get Dylan involved in pumpkin carving.

He did not want to get too dirty so he tried the raw pumpkin seeds. No I did not let him eat it.

But he does like to put things away or put things inside of others. Hence the Tupperware inside my pumpkin. Dylan loves laundry. He dives into my basket whips out all the clothes and puts them back in or up on the couch. Up and down up and down up and down. It can be fun or extra work for mommy.

So, today is Halloween. Gabe and I were both deciding on what Dylan was going to be this year. Last year Dylan was a pumpkin. ha ha. This year, I was decided on an Octa-Baby, and Gabe was set on a Teddy Bear. Both would have been cute. The pictures in the brown suit would have been the start of the bear costume, but we just played in it instead. Dylan is getting much better at walking. He is getting faster and bolder. He still has his ups and downs, but our daily walks down the street, to the park or in back at the ball diamond help him explore our world out there. I have decided to "TRY" and put together a show box of things we explored that day. So far I have collected pine cones. I want to add magazine pictures, or photos of things we see. For example, our squirrels. Dylan has seen them chattering away on a number of occasions, so if I include a picture of it in the shoe box and keep coming back to it, or he can pull it out when he wants. He could learn about what he sees everyday, and what lives around us. Good Idea?? I think so, what about you???? I just have to start it up better. I have to hit the craft store. ha ha. So below are pictures of today's events and Dylan and us enjoying Halloween.

We are on on morning walk. I had a headache and hoped fresh air would clear it up. Dylan is checking out the park benches. Just the right height.

He we are on the schools soccer field. Again, benches and again, the perfect height. BUT what is nice about these benches is that when hit, they make music (noise), but we call it music.

Checking out the Boldering wall behind our house. Soon Dyaln, soon.

Our afternoon outing, again, in our incomplete bear outfit. Another bench to play at at perfect height. I am still holding onto my red Queen McLighting Rusteze car.

Still holding Rusteze and pushing my wagon in my bear outfit.

"Is this another rock wall to climb?"

3 finished pumpkins. Daddy, Dylan and Mommy's. Mommy's didn't glow though so you have to see it in day light.

Our little Octa-baby getting ready. He was hungry and would not stay still for pictures.

I'm hungry!! Feed me!! Put down the camera and feed me!!!!!!

Taking Octa-baby out on the street.

Ha ha ha you just had to see his little bum wiggle the tentacles. Well, they actually just dragged behind him, but it was real cute.

Daddy and Octa-baby on our street. We only got 3 kids to our door, (a ninja-Anna, a King and a Pirate who were brothers and came from the same house). So we had to take Dylan out so people could see him and he see costumes. BUT our street was COMPLETELY dead. I found 3 houses to go spook. hmmmmm, next year I may ask the street to do pre-Halloween a day prior for us all. Good idea. Or have a Halloween party. Better Idea. NICE!!!

Daddy's and Dylan's pumpkins all lit up. Good job boys.

Fun with Dylan

Here are some shots of Dylan and I having on another walk behind out house. I like taking Dylan to the ball diamond as it allows for him to run without the scare of concrete / asphalt etc. However, you still have to watch out for the odd chocolate nuggets or chocolate bombs from the elks. And some neigbourhood kids play here also, and dig holes in the ground. BUT we have fun, as long as I don't get in trouble for drawing designs on the ball diamond. Bad mommy!

Dylan being his normal handful in the highchair. It is a struggle to get him to eat, except for yogurt which he is wearing all over his face. ha ha.

This is my "beware, I am pooping" face.

Another birthday present. This is from Gabe's Aunt Melanie and cousin Kelsea. Fisher Price Tug Boat. We used it immediately and it was a hit. You will see in following pictures, Dylan kissing certain figures. I did not instigate it. ha ha

This fish is actually from Gram, and Dylan is never without it in his mouth.

Kissing Mr. Walrus

Kissing little Sea horse.

Dylan's new place mat, also from Aunt Melanie and cousin Kelsea. I put figurines on top so Dylan can learn the different animals. We just have to find, a monkey, a snake and a tiger. Fun fun fun.

Another thing that is really cute, which I think I have already mentioned in an earlier blog, is Dylan crawling backwards. He started it when he learnt to crawl over a stoop (or entrance way to the front deck). So he goes over the stoop backwards, and now he crawls backwards. Daddy came home with a great book of truck noises (which match his wheels). The book makes a dump truck noise which is the back up signal, and Dylan has a BIG dump truck and matches sound to object. He has a great fire truck from cousin Kyle that makes all sorts of siren noises, and it matches to the truck noise book. And the book make a tractor engine noise, which matches to his new birthday tractor from Gabe's Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Rafael. So the backup crawl is REALLY REALLY cute and he does it everywhere and with any toy. But as we are in the bath (pics above), he even does it in the bath. Outside and inside the bath, Dylan just beeps beeps back until he hits the wall and keeps beeping backwards. (He doesn't make the beep noise, mom does). Beep Beep Beep. Cute!!!

Surgery day

So another big day has come and gone for Dylan. He was a very strong little man yesterday for his Hypospadia surgery. We had full confidence in his surgeon but were still anxious about how Dylan was going to feel. We spent the night prior in a hotel room in Calgary due to an early admittance. All went well at hotel, a new play for Dylan to explore. And the hospital was also another place for Dylan to show off his walking legs. He still loves to push things around as he walks, so we got lots of ahhs and coos for our little man in a backless hospital gown. Cutie! We brought all kinds of toys to help preoccupy him, but all he wanted to do was walk and play with a school bus. ha ha. Surgery went well, 2 hrs of waiting and then the recovery. Dylan woke with pain after the freezing wore off. He was a huge arm full and is very strong. But a boob, bottle and drugs all helped to calm him back down to sleep. He was reluctant to sleep on the ride home even with his eyes fluttering open and close. But that was OK, he sat nicely snuggled into daddy's arms while they watched the movie "Cars". Dylan sat through the whole movie - watching (another first). But he was back to his normal self soon after. We are using disposable diapers right now. He has a tube from his bladder out his "P" to drain surgery fluid and urine. So it is a constant dribble with a small amount blood. We are thankful for the disposables right now but can't wait to get him back into his lovely cloth diapers. His "P" will take 2 months to look normal again. Right now it looks nasty (poor little guy). We / he had no choice but to be circumcised. So he is quite red, swollen and bruised. I have attached a few pictures of Dylan in the hospital - but no surgery pictures. Those are for Dylan's eyes only. You understand!!

Dylan the morning of in the hotel room with his precious school bus.

Dylan on his bed getting all hooked up and playing with his new stacking toy from his friend Samson.

Dylan did not like getting his blood pressure taken. I do not think they did get a reading. They tried a few times, and on one attempt he was on the boob and clamped down, so unsure if they got a reading with me squealing away. ha ha

Even babies have open hospital gowns, but he was provided PJ bottoms.

Dylan can still fit under daddy's legs.

Dylan showing off his walking legs by pushing around a stool. He was getting all sorts of ahhs and coos.

After the surgery and after he had fallen back to sleep. It was had listening to him cry in pain.

"ET phone home" Dylan didn't have to phone home. We never left his side.

Dylan's bed area.

The ride home with his eyes fluttering and being on lots of drugs. He was giving Winnie big hugs.
Dylan and Daddy post surgery watching the movie "Cars". Only one of them is drugged up.

Mt. Loretta Ponds, K-Country

Today was a day of little sleep for Dylan, so we went for a drive to see if he would sleep in the car. But no go, so we went for a stroll at some ponds in Kananaskis instead. I originally thought it would be quick and then get back to Dylan and his nap, but it was nice at these ponds, and Dylan is a walker so I let him loose. The walk was very short, but with Dylan's little legs, it took awhile. We had to explore everything. I mean everything. There was fresh (not too fresh) bear scat and bear digs. The digs were all along the side of the trail. Very lose soil, so maybe fresh fresh?? I didn't touch the scat yo see if it was still warm. ha ha. All was well. I have been reading a toddler book as it tells me that Dylan is going to push for independence. Well he has been doing that for awhile, he is a very determined little man. Here are some MORE pictures. ha ha

Just being cute.

The little toque is from Joe and Julia. Very soft and thin wool.

You can't catch me.

Dylan really wanted to touch every portion of the railing. We would walk and he would stop and step down towards the railing to gaze out over the water (assisted).

He actually tried to climb in the water. What is funny with him right now is he knows how to go over the stoop, or climb out of bed etc, so I have been TRYING to show him going downstairs (still too advanced), but he gets the idea. So, he now crawls backwards, or tries to go backwards down things but misses the entrance to the down portion and crawls backwards into the wall, or banister or something. (Not sure if I am clear on that point). It is funny, or you'll just see him scooting down the hal crawling backwards then charge forward at you. ha ha

Trying to get us with the bright green algae. No such luck.

Bear digs alongside trail.
Just being cute.

He really wanted to go up the trail along the roots?????

After this adventure, he slept on the way home, but only for 40 min. ahhhhhh
Ciao
