Before Dinner Play

We have been having some beautiful weather lately, but it is calling for snow weather warnings again. Get out and about now, yeah!!!! Today we played on "Scooter". I picked Scooter us down our road at a garage sale for $7. Scooter has been in the basement for the winter having fun with Dylan and daddy. What a nice day. I did not put Dylan in his snow suit, I dressed Dylan in his Teddy bear suit. I thought we would just be sticking to the sidewalk and Scooter, but we ventured off into the snow and got in a little snow. I have posted MANY photos below. What a cutie.

Dylan and Scooter - He is not much of a pusher right now. I either shove him along with my foot or bend over VERY very low and push him along. There are lots of little Winnie the Pooh instruments that he can push and play with on Scooter, but the horn is the best right now with his mitts on.

Dylan has GREAT eyes. He can spot airplanes way up in the sky. He hears them first, scouts them out and spots them. Sometimes I help him out. He can spot helicopters also.

Airplane way way far away.
"See mom, an airplane". Dylan has a little airplane that goes with his trains. Once he learnt about airplanes, he would pick up his and fly it through the air with a look on his face asking for confirmation that he is doing the right thing. Because we live on the mountain shoulder, we seem to be in the flight path to the West Coast or so. Lots of planes, one after another.

Dylan does like to stop and sit on benches or drive his bus along the bench. Today, the bench was extra exciting for what we found underneath.

But first, there are kids to watch. They are playing in the igloo. We must visit, but first lets stare.

Ah haaa, look what I found. What is it? I know I seen it before but where, how, I am only little.

Look mom, it's grass! But the ground has always been white, has it not?

And look, there is grass over here also.

See, grass.

Oops, I just put my face in a pile of snow from my boot print when I was peaking through the cracks of the bench. Yum - it's like frozen applesauce that mom makes me.

Lets try it again.

Hi mom!

What happened to the snowman? Where did he go?

Look, another airplane.

Oops!

Dylan and I were having fun on this little piece of grass that has been meting over this past week or so. He was walking up and running down the slope into my arms with a giant smile and laughter.

Mom and I getting worn out.

Look, a rock and a cold bum.

This is an igloo that kids in the neighbourhood built (with help from their dads). It is great. Tunnels and windows and you can stand up in it also. We visit it often where Dylan has a routine of sliding along on his bum through the castle. At this point in the picture, the smiling and very happy little boy started "goo goo gaa gaaing" away. He gets talkative when happy. It is fun, funny and cute.

There's the window.

This is the part if the igloo that you can stand up in, even at my height. Dylan is demonstrating how tall he is.

Crawling out of Igloo with a snowy bum.

I'm out, what about you mommy?

Where is Scooter? Oh yeah, by the bench!

What is this? My very first puddle to splash around in.
(Dylan just found out what it feels like to get (slightly) wet feet through his boots).

Back and Forth, back and forth, back and forth.

More Bridge Photos

Another day out and about with Bridge. This time we went on the other side of the river down on the rocky beach where boats get launched.

Sitting on the beach along the Bow River with a sheet of ice behind and the Three Sisters in the background.

I keep trying to get photos with Dylan and I together. I do not have many, but the ones I do will most likely be of self portraits. They are not the best photos but as long as I have some....

Running into mommy's arms.

Me and my Teddy

Dylan loves his teddy. He gives many hugs and kisses to all his cuddly toys, and even books he loves. He is always hugging his trains and cars, and how he does this is by putting them up to his head above his ear. That is a big hug and kiss from Dylan.

Dylan sneaks up onto the couch. All may be fine if we did not have hardwood, but we do and he is not ready to sit alone yet.

Over the Bridge, Under the Bridge

Today was a fabulous day. So fabulous Dylan slept for 2 hrs without waking and then slept 1 hr longer during his nap. OMG - 3 hrs. We are soo loving this warmer weather. Long naps and fun times outside. Today we went downtown for our routine trip to the library, tried to get a hair cut, watched cars, trucks and walked over and under a bridge. He loved it. So we will be back tomorrow and so on and so on. I really like this one nap a day. Now we both (Dylan and I have some freedom).

Here Dylan is getting acquainted with rocks and boulders. We are downtown along the Bow Rivers edge with the river bridge crossing in the background, our main focus of the day. Dylan was getting used to seeing water in the form of a creek or river yesterday when we went snow shoeing for my birthday. We went up the Three Sisters creek and Dylan fell asleep in the backpack and woke at a open section of the creek that was babbling away. So on the way back down the trail he was pointing to all open water sources. And today he was excited to see the river open and flowing, knowing and understanding.

Walking the Bow River trail happily. He is definitely maturing and wanting to go further, but he still LOVES to be in our arms.

Here we are walking under the pedestrian bridge looking up at the vehicle bridge. Dylan loves bridges. He learnt about bridges from his train set in his bedroom. We have to say "over the bridge" or "under the bridge" when we play with the trains. OR read "Chugga Chugga Choo Choo" over and over and over again (Thanks Aunt Heidi) where we read about mountains and bridges going over rivers and through the countryside.

Now as I have 40-50 books out from the library at a time, I have more train books to read instead of the same one. ahhhhhh.

Dylan lies on his belly and watches the wheels on the trains go by him, back and forth and back and forth and he does this with his cars and buses also.

Weeeeeeee, bridge, water, river, rocks, cars. ahhhhhhhh.

Peeking through the cracks in the bridge to see the river (water) below.

Look, water, were on a bridge. ahhhhhh

So cute, he just took off. Exploring his independence along the bridge.

My little man.

And back we go again and again.

Looks whats down there, any fish?? I hope to get a fish tank this week for him (I mean me). hee hee.
Watching cars drive over the bridge adjacent to the foot bridge that he is on. VERY EXCITING!

Walking back towards the car but stopping at benches and picnic tables enroute.

Soaking up the sun and looking back at the bridge.

hmmmmm, I placed him on the snow (which actually was a slab of snow covered ice that had broken away from the main section, but was still safe as it had beach underneath) at the rivers edge, but he was not sure about sitting??? He either was tired and ready for nap or wanted to get in the frigid water. Probably not the latter.

Walking down the Bow River Trail.

Walking backwards down the Bow River Trail.

Acknowledging the garbage cans. Letting mommy know that he knows what they are.

Playing on the porch of Settlers Cabin, a store downtown. He likes to go up and down and up and down ramps but there was no ramp here. The porch was like the bridge so he was attracted to walk on the boards and go up and down the step.

Looks like a push up, but he is just getting ready to go down the step.
