What has Dylan been up to these days

It is hard to get time to write these blogs. I am trying my best. So I am behind on news about Dylan. When Nana was visiting in the beginning of June, Dylan was only sitting and rocking.

Shortly after she left, he started to crawl. He is now a power crawler chasing after mom every time I leave eye sight of him. "Where is mom, I hear her and must find her". Ha ha He is soooo very cute. He has this expression on his face that makes you laugh. He is trying to tell you that he is upset, whether it be a little or a lot it is cute. He scrunches up his eyes and nose and "wah", but not in distress. We giggle and he continues but slightly with a laugh to follow.

Standing - he is doing very well. I use Karen's playpen in the garage to place Dylan in for when I come home or when we are outside. I found myself emptying out the chariot after a walk to turn around and find Dylan had pulled himself up into a stand.

The playpen works great for it. He has fun using his muscles, rocking, cranking on the pens walls and he has a fairly soft crash on his bum. Now we are playing peek-a-boo with the playpen. I run from the car to the pen and yell boo and he jumps, frantically but playfully crawling away in screaming laughter. I put big bear in the pen today when emptying the car and he would crawl and hug bear after each big boo. ha ha.

Dylan is not as playful with toys right now. It is all about crawling to something where he can pull himself up to a stand. He uses the gates and rocks and pulls on them. He has a big Megablok table that we use to build towers on and then he knocks them down. He lifts himself to a stand using the table but now he is trying to crawl on top ????

Tonight, he climbed 2 flights of stairs from the basement to the living room. I was there of course - hands a millimetre away from his sides, but he needed no support from mom, just encouragement to keep going and not stop on a stair. He tends to let go of the object that he is using to support his stand and crash to his bum and do it again and again, so I used his police car at a landmark to keep striving for.

Dylan's is very fond of objects that roll. He loves his scooter. He plays a great deal with his police truck - until it upsets him (when he is tired). He has a Little People truck from Alex, a Tonka truck from Gram and a Lego truck that he all plays with. I just introduced him to a giant CAT dump truck and he loves it. We have some construction going on at the school down the street and we have been going to the park visiting the swings and watching the bobcat and backhoes do there work. Noisy for me but entertaining for Dylan.

How cute am I!!

Dylan Flying at 40,000 feet

So, the three of us took a trip to Thunder Bay for Gramp's 60th Birthday / retirement party. Mom (me) was a little bit nervous, but all went amazingly well. The flight there was a little hard with Dylan fighting naps (as usual).

I finally got him asleep

Great Aunt Helen, Gramps, Gram, Auntie Jen and Uncle Matt and Aunt Heidi.

Dylan was quite a little social butterfly. (Gabe's brother Matt with his dog Lily.) Thunder Bay itself was fun. Everyone who had not met Dylan showed for the party. The Party was held at Gabe's sister in-laws (Jen) camp on Cummings Lake. Dylan was able to get some swims in.

Dylan' first swim, all smiles and kicks.

Playing on the beach at camp

Dylan's second canoe ride, only 1/2 hr nap (too bad). We saw loons and a baby, Great Blue Heron, Golden Eyes, Bald Eagle....

Weeeeeee.....

My very own boat - Thanks Auntie Jen and Gram

I might not eat anything mom cooks, but see me go on this raw zucchini.

Gabe was able to play on his computer and sleep in the hammock, and I was successful at putting Dylan down for naps in bed (so I got in a few naps also).

But the flight home was exceptional with one nap and sitting the rest of the way on our laps.
