Sitting like a big boy at snack time.

Drawing with mommy.

Frosty who??

ha ha this is funny, fun and cute. Dylan like to push things between his legs. Somethings are too tall and he still keeps on trying. He likes to push the tractor through his legs with the pig squealing as it goes under him.

Bad mommy, Dylan can use the remote now.

Christmas Ideas

Before and after

Hi all, I have not blogged for awhile. Best way to sum it up, just haven't. But a few of you are asking about gift ideas. That's a hard one. Some people are just easy to buy for as they want everything, and have nothing (me), while others have everything and need nothing because they buy everything (Gabe), and then there's another who is growing so fast that the uncertainty of what to get is, well - uncertain. ha ha. Does that make any sense???

I have passed along some of these ideas already but will post about them for all to view.

Dylan
  • clothes 18 moths and up (think weather timeframe)
  • books are great but we are making trips to the library
  • art supplies, I have started them, but we will use and use and use
  • balls of all sizes
  • I saw a crayola music table online Toy's R Us (out of stock presently, but looks fun)
  • chunky puzzles
  • he likes very much noise, books with sounds, toys with sounds or music,

Time with Dad

Daddy and Dylan hanging out.

Sweater knitted by Nanna.

Thia is funny. Daddy makes a mess, so Dylan mimics daddy and gets down on the floor to clean up. I have my cleaning cloths hung up inside the cupboard door under the sink, so Dylan has full access. He gets into the cupboard, pulls them all down and grabs one to go and clean the windows or something. ha ha. It is funny that he is joining in on dad, but he is really copying me as I do all the cleaning GABE. ha ha.

Snow day with dad.
All bundled up.

Snow angel.

Can't see dad!!!

Using utensils

Dylan starting to feed himself with utensils. I know other moms let there kids dive right in, but I am in no rush, so why does Dylan have to rush. Dylan you have all the time in the world.I love you. He handles the spoon and fork amazingly!!

Dylan's first hair cut

What has Dylan and us all been up to. It has been a few weeks since I last posted. Halloween was fun, but again disappointing with no kids on the street. Dylan is recovering very well from his surgery. He shows very little sign that he has just had surgery. He does flinch a little at diaper changes and in the bath. He actually is telling mommy, no more baths.

Life has been pretty good for us all. Gabe has been in Calgary working since the surgery, so I get to see he in the mornings before work. Still very little time with him, but better than nothing.

What is even better, is that Dylan has now accepted to take naps in bed. There is very little struggle getting him down. So I have been able to take a couple of naps or get a few chores done, or simply veg out on the computer. Things should be looking up for me now with a little sleep. I may even get enough energy to exercise or do yoga. It has been too long without sleep and exercise. I am sooo very looking forward to it all. But I am vegging right now, hee hee. Very exciting.

What else, Gabe has been running around Calgary shopping for a snowsuit for Dylan (he is a good shopper). Dylan had a whole line up of suits to try on and they were all blue. It is going to be a fun winter as we have a tiny baby hill for tobogganing on the corner of our street where the gazebo is, or where all the pictures are of Dylan walking on grass with his truck. And presently we have about 8 inches of fresh white and fluffy stuff all around. I hear that Nakiska ski resort down the Kaninaskis HWY 40 has 50 cm already. Lake Louise Ski Hill has 50-60cm also. whooooh whoooo!

Dylan is walking outstandingly. He is even running at times. I was telling Gabe tonight that Dylan is going as fast as he can (with Gabe chasing after him). Dylan LOVES to be chased and to get scared - Dylan initiates it. Gabe bought Dylan some snow boots and we weren't sure how well he would do stomping around in the snow with big clunky boots on, but he is doing great. He even walked all around the supermarket today showing off his new boots with his new styling walk, and his very first hair cut. Yes that is right, I finally broke down and got his mullet cut off. ahhhhhh. He was close to perfect sitting on my lap, but he does have a few missing sections (meaning longer strands, not chucks missing). How much do you think his hair cut cost? Wow, I thought I found a cheap stylist, but even Gabe's barber was going to cost the same, so we now have hair scissors. Good luck mommy.

I forgot the camera so here are some quick cell phone shots.

This is my treat for sitting so good for my hair cut. I get to drive mommy's car. Yippeeeee!!

Dylan's new hair cut at the play centre and yes he is still playing with a school bus even though there is a room full of toys!
Playing outside in the first snow fall.

hmmm, not too sure of this stuff anymore??

This is just really cute.

Mom, what are you looking at, Rudolph, snowflakes, my search and rescue PJ's?? Why is it raining on the door?

Furniture

So I decided to use up some extra stain I had from doing some signs. This table is being used as my desk in the den, but it is Gabe's old school desk, and I think it got passed around to his sister Heidi, and then to his mom and dad as a office desk. It only had a few sun spots as damage to it, so I decided to sand and stain it. All went well until I thought out what I did. I used outside stain and not inside stain. hmmmmmm well what does that mean? It is stinky, and there are more enviro. concerns, so I just let the table baked in the sun outside for awhile to seal and then I put a finish on it. The final look is a little more red then expected, but the desk looks good, not perfect (too bad), but good.

So then I decided to re-finish our kitchen tables and chairs, so my desk got used as the dining table for a brief period. Our dining table and chairs were bought for $25 in Field. What a bargain, thanks Murray and Cathy. I have never re-finished furniture before, so this was fun, and was nice to be creative again. BUT - there has to be a but because I am an amateur. I only have a mini mouse sander (or mouse sander, ha ha), and the sandpaper kept getting gummed up???? Frustrating, so the sanding was not perfect either. But a good job as a whole.

Dining table and chairs and front entrance dresser.

As I was working on the dining table, I picked up a cheap Ikea dresser to use at the front door for all our mitts etc. Below Gabe is getting help and instructions from Dylan on how to assemble.

My school bus still fits here!!!

The boys, hard at work.

I get to drive all over the furniture, new or old.

Look, another garage. Lets see if the bus fits inside!!

Whew, this is hard work, time for a rest, maybe this is my new bus stop??
